New geotechnical tool helps reduce construction costs

We have produced a GIS-based tool for calculating construction costs. The tool is designed to calculate and subsequently reduce the cost of reinforcing the foundations of buildings and underground structures, as well as excavation and infill. It will also be possible to present remediation measures for contaminated sites or adapt building development to climate change.

Swedish Geotechnical Institute (SGI) is an expert agency that works for a safe, efficient and sustainable construction and sustainable use of land and natural resources. Our tasks include the prevention of landslides and coastal erosion. We are also working to develop new methods for remediating contaminated sites.
